How WindLabX Measurement and Control Software Brings Flow Measurement Instruments into One Test Workflow

Ethernet Intelligent Pressure Scanners
A flow measurement system may include pressure scanners, pneumatic probes, thermocouple data acquisition units, and motion-control equipment. Each instrument may work well on its own, but that does not make the overall test easy to run. Test personnel still have to set acquisition parameters, check instrument status, save data, and coordinate probe movement with data acquisition. WindLabX measurement and control software brings these separate tasks into one operating interface and one test sequence.

A practical interface makes it easy to connect instruments, verify settings, and store data in the form the test requires.
WINDTUNER develops the WindLabX software series using LabVIEW graphical programming. Core functions include device management, data acquisition, storage and review, and parameter settings. The software can also be customized for individual projects.

Managing Devices After Connection

Device management begins with identification and configuration. Different instruments have their own channels, ranges, acquisition rates, and communication settings. If those settings are not managed consistently before the test, it can be difficult to identify the cause of a data interruption in the field. WindLabX can manage multiple instruments as part of a distributed data acquisition system. Before formal acquisition begins, test personnel can check connections and key settings instead of discovering a configuration error after the run has started.

pressure scanners, thermocouple data acquisition units, and miniature five-hole probe anemometers can all be incorporated into the relevant software workflow. WINDTUNER can also adapt the software for existing instruments or special interfaces. Integration still needs to be confirmed against the communication protocol, data format, and control requirements rather than assumed from the equipment name alone.

Use One Set of Rules for Acquisition, Display, and Storage

Each record needs to show the conditions under which the data was produced. WindLabX supports acquisition settings, real-time data display, data storage, and historical review. Users can set the acquisition method around the test sequence and monitor channel status during the run. If something looks wrong, they can check the specific instrument and measurement point instead of searching through several files after the test.

File names, point numbers, and operating conditions should follow the same rules throughout the software workflow. If pressure, temperature, and position data use different time formats or condition names, the team still has to sort and reconcile files by hand after the run. Consistent configuration and recording rules make a test easier to repeat and allow results from different runs to be compared more directly.

Coordinate Data Acquisition with Motion Control

Multipoint flow measurements often require the probe to move. When motion control and data acquisition operate separately, a technician has to confirm the position, wait for the reading to settle, start acquisition, and then move to the next point. WindLabX can work with a WINDTUNER motion controller and traverse system to place point-to-point movement, acquisition, and recording in one sequence. Automating those repeated actions lets test personnel focus on the measurement layout and data status.

On a pneumatic-probe test platform, the software may also provide real-time probe acquisition, automated traverse testing for three-, five-, or seven-hole probes, and flow-field contour plots. The available modules depend on the test object and system configuration. Point count, motion path, trigger conditions, and required outputs should be defined before the software functions are finalized.

Base Software Customization on the Actual Test Procedure

Wind tunnels, flow ducts, fans, compressors, and gas turbines do not use identical operating screens or data-processing methods. WINDTUNER can customize data-source configuration, user interfaces, key-parameter alarms, embedded algorithms, formulas, visual monitoring, database storage, and data analysis. The field procedure and delivery requirements should determine which functions are included, rather than filling the system with modules that will not be used.

WindLabX measurement and control software keeps the test process consistent from setup through review. Instrument settings are verified before acquisition, measurement and motion can be coordinated, data follows a consistent storage scheme, and results remain available for timely review. For projects that use several types of flow measurement equipment, this hardware-software combination is more practical than adding a stand-alone data interface and is easier to adapt when the measurement layout or test method changes.
