Flow-field measurement hinges on reliable data, and data depends on accurate sensors. Pneumatic probes, pitot tubes, and airspeed sensors all require rigorous calibration before they are deemed usable. A purpose-built calibration wind tunnel drives that accuracy by recreating controlled aerodynamic conditions that restore and validate the performance of these instruments.
Windtuner has spent years advancing aerodynamic measurement and control technologies and now operates three dedicated calibration wind tunnels—subsonic, supersonic, and low-speed. These facilities make Windtuner one of the very few providers in China capable of delivering professional calibration services for aerodynamic measurement equipment. Windtuner also runs the first private Wind Tunnel Laboratory accredited by CNAS, giving every calibration result internationally recognized credibility.
A Calibration Wind Tunnel Built for Accurate Measurement
Windtuner designed its calibration wind tunnel laboratories to validate the performance of aerodynamic probes under controlled speed, pressure, and temperature conditions. The laboratories restore the characteristics of probes that have drifted over time, calibrate equipment for specific aerodynamic environments, and verify measurement accuracy before researchers bring sensors into wind tunnels, engine test stands, or field applications.
Long-term use can alter the characteristics of pneumatic probes, pitot tubes, and flow sensors. Windtuner calibrates these instruments by recreating their operating environment and recovering their original response curves. Aerodynamic devices behave differently across varying flow speeds and pressures, so Windtuner uses controlled test conditions to align each device to its expected performance parameters. By capturing measurement data against standardized flow fields, each device receives calibration results that researchers can confidently apply to real-world experiments.
Three Calibration Wind Tunnels Designed for Different Aerodynamic Tasks
Windtuner operates three complementary calibration wind tunnels that address the full spectrum of aerodynamic measurement requirements:
Subsonic Calibration Wind Tunnel
Designed for calibrating subsonic pneumatic probes and validating airflow temperature sensor recovery characteristics.
Supersonic Calibration Wind Tunnel
Built for supersonic and subsonic probe calibration as well as airflow temperature sensor recovery testing.
Low-Speed Calibration Wind Tunnel
Used primarily for calibrating pitot tubes, airspeed sensors, and related equipment.
Each wind tunnel forms part of a unified calibration capability that supports aerodynamic measurement across research institutes, universities, and industry clients.
Internationally Recognized Calibration Backed by CNAS Accreditation
Windtuner’s calibration wind tunnels operate under the ISO/IEC 17025 framework and are fully accredited by CNAS, giving the results legal validity and international recognition. CNAS evaluates the full calibration process—equipment capability, measurement accuracy, operational methods, and data integrity. This recognition positions Windtuner calibration capabilities at the level required by global aerospace and energy clients.
In August 2025, Windtuner expanded its CNAS accreditation, extending the scope of its calibration services. Windtuner now calibrates a broader range of aerodynamic measurement devices, including:
Airflow temperature sensors;
Pneumatic probes;
Digital pressure gauges;
Pressure scanner instruments;
Five-hole airspeed probes.
This expanded accreditation strengthens Windtuner’s role as a national platform for aerodynamic measurement capability.
A Calibration Infrastructure Supporting China’s Aerodynamic Measurement Advancements
Windtuner has spent years building its calibration infrastructure to support research institutes, industrial laboratories, and high-end clients that rely on accurate aerodynamic measurements. These calibration wind tunnels now contribute to China’s shift toward high-performance, homegrown aerodynamic test equipment. As research demands continue to rise, Windtuner plans to extend the capabilities of its Wind Tunnel Laboratory and deliver calibration quality that meets both domestic and global expectations for accuracy and reliability.
