You do not find out your pressure scanner drifted until you are already three weeks into a test campaign and the stage efficiency numbers will not close. ±0.05% FS shows up on every scanner datasheet worth reading. Getting that number under real test conditions is where products separate. Windtuner scanners keep it there through internal zero, full-scale, and multi-point calibration routines that run off the onboard pneumatic valve system—so nobody has to pull the unit offline to zero it. Thermal drift sits at ±0.001% FS per °C. That means if your test cell runs thirty degrees hotter by afternoon than it was at startup, your pressure readings stay put anyway.
Why Accuracy Matters More Than the Spec Sheet Says
The 24-bit A/D resolution, combined with a sampling frequency adjustable from 0 to 500 Hz, covers slow ramp maneuvers and sub-second transients from the same box. Every channel on a 16-channel unit runs through a calibrated pressure sensor module. Per-module calibration—not a single system-level offset—keeps each channel honest across the full measurement range.

Modular Design That Matches Real Test Setups
Test rigs don't come in standard sizes. A compressor rig might open with 32 taps and pick up another 16 when the second stage goes in.
Windtuner pressure scanners use a modular architecture that grows with the test. The WTN-TX-M communication module connects units into a distributed network over TCP/IP and UDP, and the multi-channel connectors—a 2U15-channel WTN-TX-1501 and a 1U7-channel WTN-TX-0701—so adding channels doesn't mean rewiring the whole rig.

IEEE 1588V2 precision time protocol synchronizes every scanner in the network to a shared clock. When data from a 128-channel wall-tap array has to line up with probe traversal positions from the electric actuator system, time alignment is a hard requirement. At 500 Hz, even a two-millisecond slip between channels puts your flow maps out of register and throws stage efficiency calculations off. IEEE 1588V2 ships with every unit. It's not an add-on.

From Calibration Wind Tunnel to Production Floor
